Several of them felt like anecdotes left out of a more interesting tale, like the one about the Californian woman and her mother who bought ridiculous amounts of warm clothing to go dog sledding for the first time, which never talked about either the dog sledding experience or even if their clothing choices were wise in the end.

This book was chuckle worthy, but not full on funny which is what I was expecting. There was one story that made me laugh out loud - Easter Island and the Chilean with the Brazilian. Some of my friends have heard me report on my travels and have said I should write about them. After reading this collection, I don't think it would do me any good. I don't drink or do drugs or get naked in foreign or domestic localities and I don't have sex with strangers or given them reasons to think that I might. I do like to eat and to see local customs, but I am not inclined to overindulge in local delicacies. Despite stories detailing all of these things that I would never do -- and may Some of my friends have heard me report on my travels and have said I should write about them.
Despite stories detailing all of these things that I would never do -- and maybe because of them -- I found this an enjoyable read. It helped that most of the entries were 5 pages or less and all of them were at least marginally humorous. Strangely, I think my favorite was the mother attempting to explain to her 7 year old son about the woman with the Brazilian he had gotten an up close view of thanks to a gust of wind.
